Large format. Yellow cloth spine and pictorial front board showing a boy and a girl climbing over a fence (illustrated by J.L. Brisley). Full-page colour and b/w text illustrations throughout. First story is The Crooked Billet by Frost. Covers are edge worn, spine bumped. Foxing to endpapers and textblock. Some light fingermarks to contents.

Front cover shows girl in mop cap and pink/green gown with 2 boys in medieval clothes, one dressed as a jester. Red cloth spine with black titles. Pretty colour plates plus numerous b/w and two-tone illustrations. First story is "Rosalie, the Dark-Haired Princess". Board edges rubbed & worn, tail of spine rubbed & frayed. Boards scuffed and grubby. Joints cracked, rear joint starting to split at top. Front endpapers have cutouts of children glued down on them and some surface paper damage. Name in ink to belongs to box. Grubby marks to contents. Hinges pulled, binding a little worn but holding. 6 colour plates present.
Blue pictorial cloth. 6 colour plates. 275 pages. Spine and corners bumped. Spine is slightly browned and there is a light damp(?) stain to edge of front cover. Inscription in pencil to half title-page. Foxing to contents. Some hinges slightly pulled.

Ink inscription in To box on front endpaper and 1930 written to verso of frontis. A few marks to contents but most pages are clean. A little foxing.

Covers grubby with some light scratches and browning. Ink name to front endpaper. Front joint three quarters broken between frontis and title page.
