Reprint edition, with 64 illustrations (original published in 1913 with 32 illustrations). A and C Black Colour Book in the 20 Shillings Series. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Some nicks, chips and splits to spine; some fraying to cloth. Heavy foxing to a few pages (e.g. 70/1). Some hinges are pulled.

With 24 illustrations, 8 of which are reproduced in the colours of the original paintings, and 16 are in b/w. 301 pages, plus 1 page advert for book by the same author. Additional 4 page booklist (dated Spring 1904). A & C Black Colour Book in the 7/6 series. Circa date is taken from the booklist to rear (dated Spring 1904). The 1st printings of this title did NOT have these 4 page booklists, but assumed an early reprint in same year as first. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Spotting to covers. Browning to spine. Prelims are roughly opened - one b/w plate has margin tears/ragged edges. Small nick to edge of frontis. Some foxing and browning.

First story is: "I Dare You To!" illustrated by Hilda McGavin. Some browning to spine. Name in ink to front pastedown. Inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. Foxing to outer page edges. Wrapper is creased with tears and chips; some loss; to spine and edges.
Red cloth with heraldic design in yellow to front cover and spine. 60 tissue-guarded colour plates. 3000 copies printed. Text first published in the "Fascination of Europe" series. A & C Black Colour Book 20 Shilling series. Covers are heavily worn and faded/stained. Spine badly split to both sides, with fraying to cloth. Joints are cracked, which is starting to make the binding weak. Contents are generally very good. A reading copy.
