Covers grubby and worn with small patch of damage to marble paper on front and back cover. Both joints cracked. 1.25" tear to bottom of frontis repaired on verso with clear tape. Front endpaper stuck to front pastedown. Rear endpaper MISSING. Faint lines drawn to verso of full-page b/w Wain illustration. Contents generally clean but with some browning and foxing.

Tiny bookseller's sticker to front pastedown. Light browning to endpapers. Just an odd mark and fox spot to contents.

A couple of small marks to covers and darkening to some cover edges. Front joint cracked behind title page and prelims starting to detach from top next to this but held firmly in place by endpapers. Tiny ink stamp to top edge of verso of endpaper. Contents very good just some light browning and foxing, mainly to endpapers, prelims and text block.

Biro has been used to outline some smaller illustrations. Biro drawing on reverse of one illustration which does affect a small part of text. Small hole to one colour plate. Some foxing and grubby margin marks.

Old tape marks to inner margins of frontis and title-page and old tape repairs to last page. Prize plate to verso of title-page (which is the belongs to page). Some margin tears.

Closed tear to one plate which has been mended with tape. Creasing to front endpaper which also has paper stuck to bottom corner. Some foxing mostly to page edges. Some marks to contents including yellow marks to a couple of illustrations.
