Large format. 36 tinted line-drawn plates and text illustrations. Brown cloth, gilt titles to spine; brick red titles and vignette to front cover. 144 pages. One of the more unusual Rackham items. Spine and corners bumped and slightly worn. Covers a little marked. Pages lightly browned else clean.

Another gathering detached, pages 145 to 160. Joints cracked. Small bookseller's stamp to front endpaper, ink name to verso of frontis. Heavy foxing to tissue guard and title page. A few marks to contents but most pages are clean.

Large piece of bottom corner of page 33/34 torn off affecting very bottom of illustration and text on page 34. Large closed tear to page 41/2 mended with sticky tape. Some margin tears. Some grubby marks. Neat colouring to a few illustrations.
