Very good condition in a good dustwrapper.
A quite enchanting story of a colony of gnomes who live in the vast Forest of Boland, quarrying in their mines for precious metals with the aid of the Boland Belle of the Forest Light Railway. One day a mischievous leprechaun leads a band of followers in an attempt to break up the railway... Humour and excitement is captured with ingenious detail in BB's superb b/w illustrations and colour frontis. Blue pictorial boards. 127 pages. Spine slightly bumped with browning/foxing, small brown spot to front cover and some slight discolouration to rear cover. Foxing to textblock and endpapers. A few small marks at page margins. Price-cut wrapper is chipped at edges with loss, grubby and foxed on rear panel.

Five little card wrap books contained in box shaped to look like a sweetshop with opening door at front. The books are generally very good with some foxing and light page browning. The front cover of book 1 has indentations to front cover (from heavy pencil marks?) and a small stain to top edge of rear cover. The box is worn, grubby and foxed on the inside with a tape reinforcement to the shop of the shaped section of the shop (on the verso).
