Special Limited edition boxed set, (limited to 750 copies); issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the publication of The Tale of Peter Rabbit. This commemorative box contains facsimiles of the three stages in the publication of this title: the picture letter Beatrix Potter first wrote to Noel Moore in 1893, her own privately-printed volume of 1901 (the first printing), and the original deluxe edition published by Frederick Warne in 1902 (gold binding). A small stapled pamphlet on the history of publication is included, as is a gilt embossed tissue guard to protect the limited edition plate on the interior of the box. The box is dark blue cloth with a brass latch and has a gilt title to spine. A beautiful edition for the collector! ISBN: 0723240272. A super set still in the white card sleeve which has protected it (slight wear to the sleeve).

Some slight browning to covers, mainly at lower edges. Endpapers lightly browned. Light yellow mark to textblock. Contained in a very scarce original glassine dustwrapper which is browned and edge chipped.
Blue pictorial cloth with gilt titles. B/w illustrations. 269 pages plus catalogue to rear. Spine and corners bumped and worn. Covers grubby, spine slightly darkened, spot of ink(?) to front edge of spine. Inscription in ink to front free-endpaper. Foxing throughout and some grubby fingermarks.
