Dustwrapper is edge worn, laminate is lifting at spine edges, there is heavy foxing to the flaps and a couple of small edge tears have been neatly repaired with tape on verso.

Corners and spine are bumped, with wear. Name in ink to front pastedown. Front endpaper is MISSING. Joints are cracked. Some foxing and browning. Pencil annotations to some margins. Two plates are detached, but loosely inserted; have some edge-chipping/creasing. A reading copy.

E. Nesbit was born in 1858 and she died in 1924. She wrote these reminiscences of her childhood and schooldays long after she was grown up and they were first published in 1895-6 as a series of magazine articles. Long foreword by Streatfeild. Brown cloth with gilt title to spine. Characteristic line drawings by Edward Ardizzone visually interpret the author's vivid childhood memories. 127 pages. Spine and corners bumped. There are a couple of small splash marks to lower edges of covers. Small booksellers sticker to front pastedown. Foxing to endpapers, prelims and page edges else contents clean. Price-cut wrapper is edge worn and foxed with slight chipping to top and tail of spine and a small nick to front edge of spine.
Contains The Story of The Treasure Seekers, The Wouldbegoods and New Treasure Seekers. Red cloth, black titles to spine, embossed vignette and titles to front. Colour frontis by Blampied plus b/w illustrations by other artists. 943 pages. Spine split down front edge for almost full length, backstrip held in place by rear edge. Spine is darkened/stained. Corners bumped and worn. Covers faded and marked. Both joints cracked showing webbing. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Stain to edge of rear pastedown. Large tear to page 575 has been repaired with tape. Some marks and foxing to contents but generally clean.

All edges gilt. Spine and corners bumped and worn. Small line indentation to top of front cover. Looks like an unsuccessful attempt has been made to clean the covers which are now part shiny/part matt and unevenly coloured and marked. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Joints are cracked. Frontis and one other plate MISSING, a few have small ink spots to them. Some grubby margin marks. A reading copy.

Covers are grubby, front cover marked, rear cover scuffed. Gilt dulled on spine. Front joint badly cracked between front endpaper and following page, holding by binding threads. Top set of threads pulled affecting first couple of gatherings. Rear joint cracked showing webbing, one hinge cracked. Endpapers browned and lightly foxed, rear are also grubby, verso of front endpaper has splash marks and partial footprint. Tiny bookseller's label to front pastedown. Foxing and a few marks to contents. All plates present, tissue guard to frontis heavily foxed.

One of the b/w illustrations has been neatly coloured in.

Colour plates and b/w text illustrations (including one Wain cat plate accompanying a verse called "All Afloat" by Clifton Bingham. Reprint, no date. Minimal bumping and wear to spine, corners and cover edges. Contents lightly browned with some foxing and an odd mark. One hinge cracked.

One page has been creased at inner margin causing a slightly ragged edge at bottom (binding error). Foxing and some fingering to contents. Some hinges just starting to crack.
