Nearly fine condition in a very good dustwrapper.
Edited by Naomi Lewis. Lime green boards with gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations. ISBN: 051016000X. A lovely copy. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly rubbed at corners and has a small closed tear (no loss) to top rear spine edge which has been repaired to verso with clear tape.

Being the adventures of the Bastable children in search of a fortune. Blue/green cloth with gilt titles and vignettes. B/w frontis and 16 other plates. 296 pages and catalogue to rear. All edges gilt. Spine and corners bumped and worn. Small line indentation to top of front cover. Looks like an unsuccessful attempt has been made to clean the covers which are now part shiny/part matt and unevenly coloured and marked. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Joints are cracked. Frontis and one other plate MISSING, a few have small ink spots to them. Some grubby margin marks. A reading copy.

All edges gilt. Spine bumped and worn with nicks to cloth at top and some loss of cloth from bottom edge. Heavy bumping to top corners, lower corners lightly bumped. Covers are grubby, front cover marked, rear cover scuffed. Gilt dulled on spine. Front joint badly cracked between front endpaper and following page, holding by binding threads. Top set of threads pulled affecting first couple of gatherings. Rear joint cracked showing webbing, one hinge cracked. Endpapers browned and lightly foxed, rear are also grubby, verso of front endpaper has splash marks and partial footprint. Tiny bookseller's label to front pastedown. Foxing and a few marks to contents. All plates present, tissue guard to frontis heavily foxed.

Colour plates and b/w text illustrations (including one Wain cat plate accompanying a verse called "All Afloat" by Clifton Bingham. Reprint, no date. Minimal bumping and wear to spine, corners and cover edges. Contents lightly browned with some foxing and an odd mark. One hinge cracked.
