Cloth spine, pictorial front board, stiff card pages each with a rhyme and colour illustration. Oblong format. Spine worn with nicks to cloth at ends and slight loss. Wear to corners of covers and pages. Cover edges rubbed. Covers a bit grubby and scratched with small piece of surface loss from rear cover. Contents grubby with some foxing and page edge browning.

Orange pictorial boards show circus pictures, two children and clown to front, lion in hat to spine, ringmaster and horse to rear. 8 colour plates plus b/w illustrations. 128 pages. 8.5 x 7". A chunky volume of stories and rhymes. First story is The Dancing Bear. Covers slightly darkened. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Clear tape stuck to corners. A few hinges cracked. Name in ink to verso of frontis and pencil inscription to verso of title page. Some foxing and an odd mark to contents. All plates present but one is detached and two are partially detached.

Large ink inscription to verso of frontis. A few hinges cracked so binding feels weak. Some light foxing and an odd mark to contents. One plate is MISSING and one partially detached.

Serial stories are Two Fourpenny Bits, Harry Maxwell; or Schoolboy Honour and Over the Rocky Mountains. Spine and corners bumped and worn. Covers slightly grubby and bottom corner of rear cover damp stained. Yellow tape stuck down full length of front joint, rear joint cracked. One hinge badly cracked. Name in pen and pencil writing about contents to front endpaper. First couple of gatherings pulled. Contents generally clean with some light foxing and browning.

Foxing mainly to paged edges and margins otherwise contents are generally clean. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge worn with several tears which have been mended on verso with tape. Rear panel is grubby.

Paint marks to train on first page. Foxing to endpapers and page edges. Some light fingering. A few small margin tears.
