A jovial domestic portrayal of Goldsmith's classic. 12 colour plates plus b/w text illustrations. Dark green cloth, gilt titles and vignette. 232 pages. Pictorial endpapers. Top edge gilt. Spine and corners are bumped. A few light marks to rear cover. Foxing to endpapers, prelims and outer page edges. Front hinge next to frontis and title page is cracked. All plates are present and beautifully bright!

Pictorial wrapper is faded to spine, marked to rear panel with a few small edge-chips and tears. Front of wrapper with Ardizzone illustrations is still bright.
