The contents of this set are very good but the covers leave a lot to be desired! Front endpapers are missing from volumes I and III. Vols I and III have been amateurishly rebacked in brown leather and the covers are very worn.

Binding by Zaehnsdorf. 24 colour plates with captioned guards (mounted on to stiff green paper). 12 full-page tinted illustrations plus numerous b/w drawings. 549 pages. Top edge gilt, others untrimmed. 3 of the plates have light corner creases, all others in fine condition. Some light foxing (mainly to prelims and outer page edges). A very handsome book.
