Green pictorial cloth with elaborate decorations in gilt, blue and red. 17 beautiful tipped-in colour plates plus b/w chapter headers. 349 pages. Edges untrimmed. Spine and corners bumped, small rubbed patch to top of spine. Some faint damp(?) staining to rear cover edges. There is a nibbled(?) patch to lower corner of rear cover (3cmx1cm). Endpapers lightly browned. Light foxing to contents. 1 plate has a light corner crease, all others are present and in fine condition. A few page margins are ragged where the pages have been opened roughly after binding.

Books are first editions, except for the following: Vol 1 - Reprint 1986; Vol. 2 - Reprint 1987; Vol. 3 - Reprint 1990 and Vol. 4 = Reprint 1989. Some foxspots to outer page edges of volumes. Wrapper spines are all faded. Edge-chips and small tears to a couple of volumes (including Volume IV). Edge creasing to wrappers. Some marks to outer page edges of books; odd mark to cover - but overall still a very good set!!
