Blue pictorial endpapers. 12 tipped-in colour plates plus b/w text illustrations. 361 pages. Spine and corners bumped and slightly worn. Rear cover is just a little grubby from fingermarks. Inscription in ink to verso of front free-endpaper. Page browning to half title-page and to rear fly-leaf. Some fingermarks to page margins.
Retold from Alexander Teixeira de Mattos' Translation of Fabre's "Souvenirs Entomologiques" by Mrs. R.Stawell. Cream cloth boards, gilt titles and decorations. Embossed vignette of dragonfly to rear board. 12 colour plates. vii and 184 pages. Covers slightly grubby and a little scuffed. Text block browned. Contemporary gift inscription in ink to free front endpaper has bled through to imprint on half-title page. Foxing to endpapers. Half-title page and last page heavily browned. A few margin marks. All plates present. Plate opposite page 64 (Psyche) has a closed tear to the mount which has been expertly repaired.

First story is Mischief. 1" tear hole to top of spine; a little fraying to cloth. Chipping and bumping along cover edges and corners. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Name in ink to belongs to box. Foxing and margin marks throughout. Front joint is partially cracked.
