Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Some foxing and a few grubby marks. Wrapper is very faded and browned, with marks; edge-torn and chipped with some pieces of loss; creased.

SIGNED by author by means of a dedication to half-title. Spine and corners bumped and slightly rubbed, covers just a little grubby and illustration to spine has faded a little. Front joint cracked. Hinges cracked. Foxing to contents. A nice copy of the first edition. This copy would make a wonderful gift.

A few foxspots and a light stain to edge of textblock. Dustwrapper is edge chipped and rubbed with minimal loss and is a little grubby on rear panel.
