A Child's Romance. Red cloth with black vignette of girl looking behind a curtain. Black endpapers. Eight b/w illustrations by Crane, seven of which are full page. 237 pages plus catalogues. 7 x 4.5". Dated from catalogue at rear (May 1885). Spine is a bit cocked and browned; bumping and wear. Corner are bumped. Front joint is weak and cracked - can see webbing through; some hinges internally are pulled. Rear joint also a bit cracked. Page edge browning.

Almost very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper.
Yellow boards, green title to spine and vignette to front cover. 4 wonderful colour plates plus b/w text illustrations. Monty was a Bachelor Hedgehog of settled habits but he was lonely... Some browning and brown tape glue marks to edges. Foxing to endpapers, outer page edges and some page margins. All colour plate are present - some browning. Wrapper is price-cut with tears and chips; a little loss to top of spine; some grubby marks; has been strengthened with sticky tape to edges and folds to verso.
