This variant has a bistre border to the frontis (other variant has green border). Slight rubbing to cover edges. Light fingermark to margin of one page else contents clean.

Heavy bumping to spine and corners. Spine bumped and some browning to edges. Endpapers browned. Foxing to contents.

Dustwrapper is very worn (as usual) with some loss. Spine is browned and torn with white sticky paper reinforcements to verso.
Light grey cloth with gilt title to spine. 4 colour illustrations lithographed by the Baynard Press. Tiny booksellers sticker to front pastedown. Pale browning to endpapers. Contents clean. Dustwrapper is heavily browned on verso, is edge worn, chipped and torn to spine with some loss at top.
Yellow cloth, red title to spine and black vignette to front cover. B/w illustrations to text. Covers are grubby at edges and slightly spotted. Spine slightly bumped and browned. Endpapers are foxed. Pencil erasure mark to front free-endpaper else contents clean. Price-cut wrapper is edge chipped with loss, browned to spine and edges. Loss to spine as well.
