All plates present, two have a creased corner. Spine and corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. A few hinges are pulled but binding still sound. Very occasional foxspots to contents.

A fairy story in which children will find many old nursery rhyme friends. Yellow cloth. Colour sketches throughout. 63 pages. 9.5 x 7.5 inches. A little bumping and wear to spine and corners. Light foxing to covers with some darkening to top and bottom edges. Ink inscription to front pastedown. Foxing, mainly to endpapers and text block. Grubby fingermarks to first few pages, rest clean. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge worn with tears and chips, loss from top of spine and top of front flap. Hole to front edge of spine. Very grubby.

Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Spine darkened with a couple of nicks to cloth on top edge. Bump to lower edge of front cover. Covers have some scuffing causing light patches, darkening to some edges. Completed bookplate to front endpaper. A few hinges cracked, some showing webbing beneath. Light browing to endpapers. Contents very good, just an odd mark. All colour plates present, two are partially detached.

Peer Gynt is first and foremost a poetic fantasy, although based on a real person who lived Norway c1800. About his exploits, not much more is known than is found in Asbjornsen's book Norwegian Fairy Tales, in which Peer Gynt's chief exploits lie in the direction of fighting and conqueroring trolls. Admirably depicted by the "Goblin Master" in 12 colour plates plus b/w text illustrations. Brown cloth, gilt titles and vignette to front cover. Cream and brown pictorial endpapers. 255 pages. Spine bumped. Endpapers lightly browned. Name and date in ink to front fly-leaf. Dustwrapper is edge worn/torn/chipped with small section of loss to centre of spine, some foxing to wrapper.

Corners lightly bumped & rubbed. Original blue cloth lifting slightly at spine edge on upper front cover (hard to notice). Gilt titles nice and bright. Joints expertly and neatly repaired. All colour plates present and have light unobtrusive foxing, plate facing page 112 has tiny closed tear to lower margin not affecting illustration. Neat colouring to page 7 and 35 in pencil crayon. A few hinges pulled. Some scattered foxing to contents, mainly to prelims and last few rear pages. Overall, a nice copy.
