Pale blue boards, black titles. Plain endpapers. 32 full-page b/w drawings. The Famous Five's first adventure featuring a ruined castle, a wreck and buried treasure. Spine bumped and lightly foxed. Slight fading to top edges of covers. Prize plate to front free-endpaper. Foxing to endpapers, prelims and textblock. Dustwrapper is worn, torn and creased with some small repairs on verso, spine is slightly browned and rear panel is a bit grubby. Largest tear is to front fold.

Parts of title to front panel of wrapper have been written inside.

Inscription in ink to verso of front free-endpaper, ink name stamp to front of same. Page 23/4 has lower corner torn off (no missing text). Price-cut wrapper is edge worn and creased with some loss to top and tail of spine.

Dustwrapper is slightly edge worn, tear to front edge at top of spine Some light creases to dustwrapper.
Five little card wrap books contained in box shaped to look like a sweetshop with opening door at front. The books are generally very good with some foxing and light page browning. The front cover of book 1 has indentations to front cover (from heavy pencil marks?) and a small stain to top edge of rear cover. The box is worn, grubby and foxed on the inside with a tape reinforcement to the shop of the shaped section of the shop (on the verso).
