Small closed tear to lower edge of front joint and free front endpaper. Endpapers, title page and last page browned. Hinges pulled but binding tight. A few marks to contents. Still a nice copy.

Front cover shows kitten being tickled by a blade of wheat by a mouse whilst sitting on a high stool having his photo taken by a cat. B/w illustrations throughout, some to colour, some to copy. Covers worn with some surface paper loss, spine a little frayed at top and tail. Joints split. Inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. Hinges pulled apart. Some pages detached. Possible that some pages may be missing but not known. Contents grubby with fingermarks. Binding still holding but fragile. White colouring to couple of pages. A reading copy only.

Small closed tear and slight loss to lower corner of half-title page. Page-edge browning. A few marks to contents but generally a nice copy with all plates present.

Two pages have circular black marks to them (pages 88 and 120). A bright copy of a scarce early fairy tale book.
