A couple of b/w plates plus fold out map of England and Wales. 332 pages plus tables, index and questions. 59th thousand. Spine and corners bumped. Covers grubby and stained. Prelims are missing. Name and address in ink to verso of preface. Large tear to fold-out map. Stains to margins of plates and textblock. Rear joint is cracked but binding is still tight.

Possibly the spine has been replaced professionally (very difficutl to tell!). Front joint is broken but rear joint holding (just starting to crack at top). Contents clean.

Front cover shows kitten being tickled by a blade of wheat by a mouse whilst sitting on a high stool having his photo taken by a cat. B/w illustrations throughout, some to colour, some to copy. Covers worn with some surface paper loss, spine a little frayed at top and tail. Joints split. Inscription in ink to verso of front endpaper. Hinges pulled apart. Some pages detached. Possible that some pages may be missing but not known. Contents grubby with fingermarks. Binding still holding but fragile. White colouring to couple of pages. A reading copy only.
