Different colour cloths with b/w engravings by different illustrators. Top edge of text blocks is grubby/lightly browned at the opening ends (approx 2" maximum starting from outside edge). Spine of Middlemarch is faded, only noticeable when removed from the slipcase. Otherwise, a very nice set contained in two slipcases which are lightly scuffed.

Some hinges pulled/cracked but binding still nice and tight. Slight musty smell to contents. Dustwrapper is worn and torn with repairs on verso, section of loss to top corner of rear panel. Exceptionally scarce in dustwrapper.

Spine bumped, worn and browned with small splits to the cloth. Top corners badly bumped with top rear corner almost split. Bumping to bottom corners. Bottom board edges bumped and rubbed. Covers a little grubby. Book plate to front pastedown. Browning to front endpapers and some of the mounts for the plates. Inscription in ink to half title page. Some hinges are cracked. Some fingering. Creasing to a couple of plates. Top of book is bowed.

Dot-to-dot has been completed in ink to pages 32/33. Magic Paintings are DONE! Couple of small margin tears/nicks to these pages. Wrinkling to margins of some pages - especially magic paining pages and ones near to them. Foxing and browning to outer page edges. Illustrations are still lovely and bright!
