Illustrated in 27 coloured plates containing several hundreds of species. Large format. Pictorial front board. Red cloth spine. Translated form the original German text by Gerard K. Gude. Spine bumped and worn with a small hole in the cloth at the top and a few small marks. Corners bumped and worn. Board edges are scuffed. Front joint cracked showing webbing beneath in places. Light damp stain to bottom of prelims and visible on several other pages. Some foxing and page browning otherwise contents generally clean.

The Playtime Picture Books No. 4. Puppy dog verses. Small format (13 x 11cm). 10 full page colour illustrations by Aldin plus green/white illustrations to text. Red cloth spine, grey paper boards with red title to front and white puppy dog about to land in water. Covers are grubby with slight surface paper damage to the A of 'Tails' on front cover. Front joint is cracked causing front free-endpaper to be almost detached. Small tear to edge of title-page. Foxing throughout and a few pages affected by a small brown mark at edges (includes margins of two plates - although actual pictures unaffected). Still a decent copy of a scarce book.
