Contains January 1884 to December 1885. Dark spine with gilt raised bands and titles, red title block. Grey boards, dark corners. 26 mounted colour plates plus b/w illustrations. Wear to spine and corners. Covers grubby and marked. Dark outlines to front endpaper of something previously kept in box. Rear joint just starting to crack. Ink writing to verso of front endpaper. Some foxing, marks and small margin tears to contents. Browning, mainly to pages opposite plates. 25 plates present, one has margin tear and one has margin loss.

All plates present but one has vertical crease.

Small bookseller's label to front pastedown. Foxing and browning to endpapers and prelims, small hole to rear endpaper. Publication list is browned. A few marks to contents but generally clean. All plates present.

Some small patches of surface paper damage to rear cover. Front cover is grubby. Front joint and some hinges cracked. Name written on front endpaper. Browning to endpapers. Foxing to some pages plus brown marks to several pages where something has possibly been pressed into them.

Both joints badly cracked showing webbing beneath. Some hinges cracked. Browned tape to hinge of several pages including frontis and title page. One colour plate is creased. Some fingering and page browning otherwise contents are generally clean.

Large 5.5" tear to one illustration. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Numerous pencil marks to contents. mostly short lines to blank pages. Grubby marks to contents.
