Large format. Blue cloth with gilt title to spine. Full page b/w illustrations. Couple of corners are bumped. Some spotting. Foxing to endpapers and outer page edges. Wrapper is edge-torn and chipped with some repairs to verso with paper tape. Some grubby marks to wrapper.

Spine and corners bumped and worn with small splits at top and tail of spine. Rear cover is slightly grubby. Name plate to front free-endpaper. Joints cracked. Some foxing to textblock and page margins. 1 plate is missing (opposite page 211).
