Blue boards, red cloth spine. Gilt titles. Coloured endpapers and illustrations. 192 pages. 10 x 7.5 inches. Spine bumped. Small booksellers label to rear pastedown. A little light foxing to page edges otherwise contents are clean. Pictorial wrapper is edge worn with tears some of which have been mended on verso with tape. Spine is browned. Wrapper is a little grubby. Book has a light musty smell.

Endpapers are lightly browned. Some foxing mainly to page edges. A few marks to page margins. Dustwrapper is edge worn with several tears. Small area of loss at top of spine disguised with paper behind. Creasing to both panels. Wrapper is grubby. Browning and foxing to verso.

Blue pictorial cloth, with gilt title labels. Front cover shows artist being watched by girl, spine shows lady with girl. 4 colour plates. 336 pages. Purple endpapers. Spine bumped, worn and darkened, gilt title block rubbed, some loss from lady and child. A little bumping and wear to corners. A few small marks to covers, picture on front is rubbed with some spots of loss. Presentation plate to front pastedown, surface paper damage to plate. Joints and some hinges cracked but binding is firm. Small tear to top edge of front endpaper. An odd mark to contents. Some foxing, especially top of first few text pages. All plates present.

Covers slightly grubby with small mark to bottom edge of front cover. Prelims have been re-inserted incorrectly, order now is frontis, front endpaper, half-title, title page. Yellowed tape residue down full length of front joint. A couple of hinges starting to crack but binding is firm. Label with ink inscription to verso of frontis. Some light fingering and foxing to contents but generally they are clean.
