SEA-RUNNING!
Written by Maxie Lane.
Stock no. 1827781
Published by Macmillan London Limited. 1st 1978. Slightly better than very good condition in a slightly better than very good dustwrapper.

Sequel to 'Running!' which told of its author's whirlwind childhood and adolescence. This biography drops him in 1940, at the age of 24, on his first ship and newest adventure. Sea-Running! takes up the story in the same sentence as it left off, and pursues it in the same exhilarating fashion. A string of memorable merchant ships showed Maxie the wartime world, and he shared the twilit world of the boiler-rooms with men who were many times larger than life. Blue cloth boards, yellow title to spine. ISBN: 0333236513. A nice, clean copy. Dustwrapper is lightly scuffed to rear panel.

CEASELESS VIGIL: MY LONELY YEARS IN THE LIGHTHOUSE SERVICE
Written by W.J. Lewis. Illustrated by Frank Francis.
Stock no. 1827780
Published by George G. Harrap & Co. Ltd.. 1st 1970. Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.

Lighthouse keepers are usually considered rather lonely and romantic figures who have to while away weary hours in abject isolation. Yet few have actually told their own story. Here, Mr. Lewis's book is a fascinating revelation of the daily trials and tribulations of these little-known men. Trhough his 15 years of experience on land stations and his 30 years service on rock lighthouses, the author describes all the hazards, pleasures, hardships, and heartaches involved in manning a lighthouse. Grey cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations. Top edge light blue/grey. ISBN: 0245503528. Text block lightly browned. Gift inscription in ink to front enpaper. Contents otherwise clean. Price-cut pictorial dustwrapper is edge-worn, a little grubby, lightly faded to spine.
