The front endpapers are a little messy with previous inscriptions and pencil marks. Endpapers lightly foxed. Some light page browning to the white pages (some of the pages are black). A decent copy of this scarce book.

The essay is presented alongside a Louis Wain Exhibition held in the Victoria and Albert Museum during December and January 1972-73. The text of 1947-51 was slightly revised in 1959. This edition of the text has been corrected, and altered but is substantially as it was in 1951. ISBN: 090148654X. Slight rubbing to corners. Slight browning to cover edges. Light page browning else contents clean.

Light brown boards and lettering. Pictorial onlay of Mr. Tod to front cover. 93 numbered pages. 5.5 x 4.25". The dedication page states William Francis (instead of Francis William) which denotes a 1st printing. Some slight wear to spine which has been professionally restored (only visible on close inspection). Some light fingering to margins and some very light foxing else contents are generally clean. A couple of small marks to covers and some very slight wear to lower corner of rear cover. A nice copy of the first edition. This copy would make a wonderful gift.
