Born a Prince, yet confined as a child to an underground prison for over twelve years, living on bred and water with a small toy horse to play with. He stumbled out onto the streets of Nuremberg in 1828 and became famous throughout Europe for his remarkable abilities and intriguing character. Kaspar Hauser's mysterious life and his historical background is challengingly explored by writer and artist, Johannes Steuck, and complemented by an insightful foreword by Jonathan Stedall. American Edition with New York address to title-page. Blue paper boards with green titles and oval onlay to front cover. The text on pg15 still carries the misprint of "muffatees". Spine very slightly bumped and browned. A couple of hinges are slightly pulled. Name and date in ink to half title-page. Contained in a very scarce, original glassine wrapper which is a little frayed at edges with a few small chips and slight loss. This copy would make a wonderful gift.
