A network of routes travelled by packmen, carriers and packhorse teams carried much of Britain's trade before the era of the turnpike road. This book studies the system of routes, taking as an example the wild and difficult terrain of Derbyshire and South Yorkshire. Brown cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w photos and maps. ISBN: 0718511921. Board corners lightly bumped. Minor mark to lower edge of text block. Contents otherwise fine. White pictorial dustwrapper is lightly creased at top of spine and lightly scuffed.
