The hsitory of the motor car in a continuous story from its tentative beginning in the mid-eighteenth century to the mechanical and aesthetic maturity reached by 1914. Green cloth, gilt title to spine with small vignette of steering column to front. B/w illustrations and photos. 256 pages including index. Bleaching of cloth to outer board edges. Text block and endpapers browned. Minor foxing and a lower corner crease to prelims. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Price-cut dustwrapper edge-worn with a few tiny chips and a few closed tears.
