The Heritage books series. Burgundy boards, gilt title to spine. 154 pages. Colour frontis, b/w illustrations. SIGNED by the author by means of a dedication to front free-endpaper. Spine and corners slightly bumped. Endpapers foxed and partly browned, foxing to textblock. Dustwrapper is edge rubbed.
Large format. Brown cloth spine and rear cover with gilt title. Front cover is green with black/gilt drawings. The text of this edition is taken from the 1789 edition and includes the first part only, with minor emendations. The additional two letters 'Timothy the Tortoise to Miss Hecky Mulso' and 'On the Sense of Hearing in Fishes', were first published in the 1877 edition of 'The Natural History and Antiquities of Selborne', edited by Thomas Bell, 2 vols, published by John Van Voorst. Exquisite full page colour illustrations. A beautiful edition! One small spot to outer page edges. Slip case is a bit better than very good - a few light marks and scuffs.

Belloc is the author but chose not to be credited. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Browning to spine; which has possibly been repaired. Crease to bottom corner of front cover. Foxing; heaviest to outer page edges and endpapers.
