Magazine with article 'Gone With the Wind' by W.E. Johns. Paperwraps. B/w photos. Some creasing and browning. Staples have rusted.
Famous Biggles story told in pictures. Small square format. Card wraps. Two tone illustrations throughout. Staples have started to rust and show through on spine. Covers are creased with some grubby marks. Contents are still very good; just some page corner creasing.
Red boards, black title to spine. 214 pages. Bumping and wear to spine and corners. Some scuffing to covers.Wrapper is damp marked with surface paper damaged; a bit of loss.
Blue cloth, black title to spine. B/w photo plates. 232 pages and 30 pages of adverts to rear. 7.5 x 5". Spine and corners bumped, slight fading to spine. Foxing to contents. Dustwrapper has loss to spine and corners (particularly lower front corner), is edge worn and torn and grubby to rear panel/spine and is lightly damp stained (visible on verso).
Weekly magazine, paperwraps. Contains an installment of Biggles' Rescue Flight. Staples a little rusty. Spine torn at top and bottom. Contents detached from covers. Writing in pencil to top of front cover. Some marks to covers. Pages browned.
Weekly Magazine. Paperwraps. Contains Pirate and Gentleman the strange story of Captain Misson from the They Flew the Jolly Roger series by W.E. Johns. Staples rusty. Some damage at base of spine. Pencil writing to top margin of front cover. Browned with a couple of edge chips.
Red cloth spine with black titles. Pictorial front cover with red title. 4 colour and 4 b/w plates. Contains 5 W.E. Johns stories. Spine bumped and faded. Corners are bumped and worn. Board edges are rubbed. Title on front is partially faded. Marks to rear board. Joints and several hinges are cracked, some almost broken leading to some pages starting to be become detached. Inscription in ink to front endpaper with address written in pencil below. Drawings in pencil to rear endpaper. Evidence of bookwork damage on several pages. Two plates are missing - 1 colour and 1 b/w. Foxing and grubby marks throughout including several pencil marks. A reading copy.
Title in English is Gimlet Comes Home. Beige boards with blue titles to spine and front board plus vignette of a stag. 188 pages. Text in French A little bumping to spine and corners and a few small marks to covers. Large corner of page 33/34 has been torn off and repaired with clear tape, which is now browned. Text affected is still readble. Pages are browned but clean. Small marks to rear pastedown. Dustwrapper is edge worn, creased and chipped with a faded spine, rear panel is a little grubby.
Text in French, translated by Marguerite Chevalley. English title King of the Commandos. Grey boards with brown titles and animal head vignette. 204 pages. Top of spine bumped. A few fox spots to edges and a couple of black marks to front cover. Pages are browned and foxed at edges. Dustwrapper is edge worn and chipped with a small tear to rear panel. Wear to edges of spine and rear panel a bit grubby.
A Steeley Adventure. Orange cloth, black title to spine. 220 pages. Damp stain to front cover. Other marks to covers. Corners are bumped and worn. Bookplate to front pastedown. Some foxing.
And Other Stories. Blue cloth, black title to spine. 174 pages. Spine is unevenly browned. Foxing to outer page edges. Wrapper is edge-torn and chipped, with some loss to corners; creased, with grubby marks to rear panel.
