Text later changed as this story of a little girl who was befriended by an old gentleman is now considered to be "politically incorrect". Ardizzone's second book. Page edge browning, with a few foxspots to outer page edges. Wrapper is edge-creased with some tears and chips to cover edges; small loss along top edge of rear panel.

In 1606 the little Dutch East India Company Ship, Duyfken, came upon the coast of Cape York Peninsula. Its skipper, Willem Jansz went to his grave without knowing that his crew were the first Europeans to land on the shores of the sixth continent. His chart lay undiscovered in the archives for many years. Nearly 400 years later, a small group of people dedicated themselves to the daunting task of bringing the Dufyken story back to life including building a replica ship.
