The Ocean Monarch was only a few hours out of Liverpool on August 24 1848 when a cabin passenger shouted "Fire!" and all hell broke loose. Red cloth boards, silver title to spine. A few b/w photos. xii and 241 pages including index. ISBN: 9781526734396. A lovely copy.

Published by Frederick Warne & Co..

Very good condition.
The delightful story of Miss Moppet, the little kitten, and her attempts to catch a mouse who is determined not to be caught! The first edition is printed in panoramic form, mounted on a strip of linen and folded concertina-style into a wallet with a tuck-in flap. Needless to say, these were very fragile and few survived. Later editions were printed in the usual small book format. The wallet is covered with grey pictorial cloth with a colour onlay of the Miss Moppet to the front. "London & New York" on rear cover denotes the first printing. This is the 2ND PRINTING with New York & London on back cover. Unusually the silver tab closure is still present (slightly torn on edges), tab on front flap for closng is still present too. A few small black spots to covers and a light spot to front but covers are otherwise bright. Some rubbing to page edges and some light foxing. One page has light vertical creases to it. Several page corner tips have a small ink stain. A super copy of the 2nd priinting.
