Bump to top of spine at both front and rear edge. Else contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is creased at top of spine where bumping has occurred.

Two volumes. Very large format. 14.5 x 11". Dark green cloth, gilt titles to spine and front cover. Bevelled edges. Elaborate red and gold vignette to front covers. All edges gilt. 12 superb colour plates. Numerous b/w text illustrations. Tintern Abbey is the colour frontis and first subject of volume I. Undated. Spines worn to top & tail with board beneath cloth exposed. Corners are rubbed. A few marks to boards. Joints starting to crack. Vertical crease to front endpaper of volume I. Plate opposite page 48 (The Cistercian Abbey of Melrose) and page 124 (The Premonstratensian Abbey of Dryburgh) are missing. Some hinges are pulled but binding tight. Plates are lovely and bright with some minor marks to margins. Scattered foxing throughout both volumes.

Almost very good condition.
Card wraps. Third Edition. 43 pages with folding colour map to rear. Scale: 16 miles to one inch. Covers lightly browned, edge-worn, small closed tear to front spine edge, a little loss to lower front corner. Name in ink crossed out to top of title page. Top corner of page 43 torn away and a little of the lower corner of same page (not affecting text). Blank verso of page 43 is spattered with different coloured paint spots and a grubby mark. Verso of map is grubby, map is a little browned especially on folds, lower half of map is grubby and has a few paint splashes near the Bristol Channel. Still a tidy working copy.

Dustwrapper is lightly edge-worn with a few closed tears, is a little scuffed and is grubby to rear panel.
