An account of the career of a merchant of the 18th century; a man no better and, perhaps, no worse than his contemporaries, who traded from a small port in Devonshire, but whose name became known throughout the land, Thomas Benson. Pictorial cardwrap booklet with staple binding. A few b/w drawings. 75 pages. Edges lightly rubbed, spine lightly faded to rear. Staples are rusting with some bleeding but still firm. Tiny foxspots to text block.

The author's attempt to solve the many obscure problems surrounding the origins of Somerset and Devon. Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine. 87 pages including index. Includes 2 page letter from the author to the recipient. Fading to rear board. Foxing and browning to text block. Dustwrapper is lightly edge-worn with a few closed tears, is a little scuffed and is grubby to rear panel.

The Gloucestershire Regiment was formed nearly 300 years ago, and is perhaps best known as the only regiment of the British Army which is permitted to wear its badge at the back of the cap as well as the front. Black cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w photos. vii and 143 pages including index. ISBN: 0750900415. Front joint pulled but binding tight. Else a lovely copy. Pictorial dustwrapper is faded to spine and is lightly scuffed.
