Front endpaper has small tear holes/slats, where someone has had a name plate or something similar in book previously. Browning and foxing to endpapers and outer page edges.

A & C Black Colour Book 20 Shilling series. 4 page booklist to rear. Circa date from books listed in booklist to rear. Possibly published in same year as first, but first impression didn't contain the 4 page booklist. Spine is browned, with a little fraying to cloth at top and tail. Front joint is BROKEN! Only partially held on by a little stitching at top; this means the binding is weak/fragile. Page edge browning, with a few grubby marks.

Brown blind decorated cloth with gilt titles to spines. An American's impressions of Great Britain in Victorian times. Volume 1 is probably nearer very good - Bumping and a bit of chipping to corners, some browning and foxing; binding is nice and tight. Volume 2 - is chipped with splits to edges; tear in cloth on rear, but top cloth still present; damp stained; half of title page is MISSING - some heavy foxing and damp marking throughout. Please note, this appears to be a MIXED set with slightly different cloths - possibly bought at different times.
