A history of the various types of locomotives which have been constructed for the Great Northern Railway at the time of publication. Green cloth boards, gilt titles. 8 b/w plates, 112 illustrations in the text. xi and 203 pages. Top & tail of spine lightly worn. Small ink smudge to vertical edge of rear board. Text block browned. Inscription in ink to both front endpapers. Front joint partly pulled. Hinges pulled but binding is tight. Puzzle written in ink to verso of rear endpaper. Else contents clean.

Folding map to rear. Spine lightly browned. Foxing to top edge of text block. Some hinges pulled but binding is tight. Contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly browned, a little grubby, has a small chip to base of spine and a few closed tears to edges.
