To which is prefixed a review of the History of Britain from the Roman period to the Saxon Heptarchy. Interspersed with notes biographical and explanatory. Large format. Two volumes, leather spine & corners, three raised bands to spine, gilt title to label to spine. Marbled paper boards. B/w plates. Volume II binding appears to be a more modern binding than volume I. Both volumes expertly repaired, volume I has contemporary notes bound in at front. Some paper repair also. Address stamp to volume I title page (small). Foxing and dampstaining affecting plates as well as text mainly to volume II. Marbled paper boards of volume I are scuffed. Bindings of both volumes are nice and tight.
Dark red cloth, gilt title to spine. cxxiv + 347 pages. Small nick to base of spine. Spine faded. Name in ink to front endpaper.
Contemporary binding. Leather spine and corners; marbled boards. Bumping and wear to spine and corners; Foxing/green spotting to covers. New endpapers, with piece cut out of front pastedown, to see inscription on older endpaper. Foxing and browning to pages; some of which have uncut page edges.
