Some of Aldin's best work went into this, one of his favourite books. Two volumes. Red cloth, gilt titles and vignette. 12 colour plates in each volume plus numerous text illustrations. Top edges gilt. Both volumes dampstained, a little marked, and faded to spine. Corners bumped. Tissue-guard between frontis and title page missing to volume II. Hinges pulled. Minor foxing to text block. A few grubby marks and minor foxing to contents. All plates present.
Brown boards, with pictorial onlay to front cover. 6.75 x 5.25". B/w text illustrations and 3 tipped-in colour plates. 31 pages. Browning to endpapers. Neat inscription in ink to free front endpaper. Foxing to text block. A few scattered foxspots to contents. All plates present.

Board edges worn, boards grubby. Bookplate to front pastedown. All plates present. Binding worn but tight. A few grubby marks throughout.

Brown leather spine and corners; black title label with gilt title to spine. Red cloth covers. Hand coloured plates and b/w illustrations. Heavy wear with some chips and a little loss to spine and corners. Scuffing and grubby marks to covers. Front joint is almost entirely broken. Inscription in ink to prelims. Foxing throughout.
Red leather binding, with raised bands to spine, gilt decorations. Colour plates. 1" split to top of spine; wear and rubbing to leather at sides of spine and corners. A few marks to covers. Bookplate to front pastedown. Foxing and page browning.
