Comprising: Tom Thumb; Cinderella; The Three Bears (featuring Silverlocks); Beauty and the Beast; Aladdin; Children in the Wood; Jack the Giant Killer; The Dog's Dinner Party; Puss In Boots; Hop o' My thumb; Butterfly's Ball; Grasshopper's Feast; Little Red Riding Hood. This is the same publication as the 'Second Series of Aunt Mavor's Picture Books for little Readers' (published in the same year), except that 'The Dog's Dinner Party' is included instead of 'The Nursery Alphabet.' Printed on one side of the page only, every page has a hand-coloured illustration accompanying the test. Each story is 8 pages long. Bound in blue embossed cloth with gilt titles to front cover and spine. Yellow endpapers.
Covers worn and stained. Joints cracked. Inscription in ink dated 1857 on front endpaper. Stitching pulled in places but still sound. Occasional small tears and light stains but overall contents very good and colours bright.
