She tells of their life in an old cottage, of finding logs for the fire, fighting the clay soil and insects and weather in the garden, raising chickens, watching the birds and local wildlife, participating in the community life in the village, cooking in each season, going for walks with her dog through the local countryside, and of the magic apple tree, a tree growing in their back garden which gives them new views and comforts throughout each season. The story begins with an old lady watching the snow start to fall on Christmas Eve, and she remembers. She's the only one left who remembers. Purple cloth with gilt title to spine and vignette to front cover. Purple and white decorated endpapers. B/w wood engraving illustrations. 70 pages. ISBN: 1902421019. SIGNED by the author (no dedication) to title page. Boards clean and bright. Minor corner crease to a couple of pages else a lovely copy contained in publisher's red card slipcase with very light wear.
