Blue cloth, gilt titles and decorations. 18 tipped-in plates in colour, specially drawn for this edition. Published for Boots The Chemist. Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. Some light scratch marks to covers and browning to spine. Foxing and a musty smell to contents. Plates present and fine.

Some fraying and chipping to cloth on spine. Marks to covers. Foxing to endpapers and outer page edges. Marks to margins. There are a few pages which have closed margin tears (one which goes through text). There are two page margin tears, with pieces of loss. All plates present. A reading copy.

Published for Boots The Chemist. Large format. Red cloth covers, gilt titles. 16 colour tipped-in plates. Many b/w illustrations. 319 pages. 10 x 7.5". Some darkening along cover edges. Corners are a bit bumped and worn. Damp staining to rear cover. Some foxing and grubby marks to endpapers, outer page edges and page margins. All plates present. Wrapper is unevenly faded/browned. Large tears and chips; some loss; but most tears are repaired to verso with what appears to be paper tape or vyline.

A few small marks to front cover, spine darkened. Ink inscription to front endpaper. A little foxing, mainly to prelims and text block. All plates present, one has slight damage where it has been stuck to page opposite.
