Pictorial boards and spine, front shows girl walking in rain called The Silver Lining. Colour plates and b/w text illustrations. First story is That Ordinary Girl by Hayes. Also includes two stories by D.F.Bruce: Captain Betsy and The Secretary's Keys. A little bumping and wear to spine and corners. Rear cover slightly grubby. Front joint and a few hinges cracked but binding is firm. Endpapers browned, pencil writing about contents to front endpaper. Foxing, mainly to text block and prelims. Text pages very good.
Cloth spine, red pictorial front cover shows two rosy-cheeked children reading. 10.5 x 8.5". Illustrated endpapers. Seven sections, Letterland, Numberland, Homeland, Tableland, Playland, Gardenland and Slumberland. Colour illustrations throughout. Some bumping and wear to spine and corners. A few tiny marks to covers. Some light browning to endpapers. Just an odd fingermark to contents. Colours still lovely and bright.
Colour pictorial cardwraps show four children, one dressed for each season. Oblong format 8.25 x 10.5". Full page colour illustration for each month with 4 line verse below, b/w illustrations to inside of covers. A little wear to spine and cover edges. Staples rusty. Covers slightly grubby. Small erased lines to top corner of first page, top corner is also slightly grubby. Dark spots to outside edge of rear cover and some page edges. Contents very good otherwise.

A Tuck Book. Oblong format. Pictorial stiff card covers. Beautiful colour illustrations to each page with rhyme below. A little wear to spine and corners, nick to lower edge of front cover and lower front corner creased (also affects all pages), small mark to front cover near top of spine. Staples starting to rust. Erased pencil writing to top corner of front pastedown. Contents clean and bright.
A Puck Book. Pictorial stiff card wraps 9.5 x 7". Pretty, full page, colour plates with minimal text below. Damage to card covering spine, quite a bit missing. Wear to corners and cover edges. Creasing to both lower corners. Covers slightly grubby. Puck book symbol on title page has been scribbled over. Illustrations are still bright and pages are clean. Small brown spot inside rear cover.
Jane's mother kept a secondhand shop. Some of the form decided that this must not be held against Jane, but not everyone in the school agreed with them. Red boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations. 192 pages. Spine and board edges bumped, some darkening at edges. Endpapers browned. price-cut wrapper is edge chipped with areas of loss, especially to top of front panel and spine.
