Price-cut dustwrapper (torn from lower part of front flap) is a little browned, faded to spine, grubby, worn at edges with some loss.

Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. Endpapers partly browned. Hinge between frontis and title-page is cracked/pulled but binding still tight. Some grubby fingermarks to page margins.

Cream cloth with red titles and borders. 7 b/w illustrations including frontis. 241 pages. Reprint. Mark to top of spine (horizontally) and light fading to base of spine. Boards otherwise clean. Foxing mainly to text block, endpapers and some margins. Small name in ink to front endpaper. Top corner of page 195 and 197 is mis-cut as too large and therefore folded over (binding error). Pictorial dustwrapper has loss to base of spine (in line with the fading to spine), top of spine and corners lightly worn and chipped, overall is grubby with green marks to rear panel and foxing.
