Gwilym Lewis was sent to the Somme in 1916 as a boy of eighteen only just out of school. During his service he wrote long letters to his family who preserved them. These letters have been edited by Chaz Bowyer and illustrated with b/w photos from private albums. Blue boards, gilt title to spine. ISBN: 0718303245. Light browning to text block and endpapers. Grey pictorial dustwrapper is slightly faded to spine & worn at top & tail, small closed tear to lower rear edge.
