Stock no. 2107904
Published by Dennis Dobson Books Ltd.. 1st 1969. Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.

A Doomful Tale of Hope or A Hopeful Tale of Doom. Driver Grope drove a stream engine. He and his train were greatly loved by everyone, people came from miles around to have a ride with him, because his train was clean and comfortable, if old-fashioned. As time went by, more and more of the people who used to ride on Driver Grope's train bought motor-cars and few and fewer of them would visit. But there came a time when there were so many motor-cars on the road that there was no room for them to move. An then, of course, everyone.... perhaps the reader should see for himself why Driver Grope who had retired unhappily to potter in his garden, was asked to drive his train again. Large format. Blue cloth boards, red title to spine. Colour illustrations. ISBN: 0234779020. SIGNED by author to title page. Top edge of boards a little discoloured. Some foxing to endpapers. Dustwrapper is grubby with some damp staining to edges.
