A beautifully descriptive recollection of a child's Christmas at a country rectory; her final Christmas before her life alters forever. The story begins with an old lady watching the snow start to fall on Christmas Eve, and she remembers. She's the only one left who remembers. Purple cloth with gilt title to spine and vignette to front cover. Purple and white decorated endpapers. B/w wood engraving illustrations. 70 pages. ISBN: 1902421019. SIGNED by the author (no dedication) to title page. Boards clean and bright. Minor corner crease to a couple of pages else a lovely copy contained in publisher's red card slipcase with very light wear.

Full page black and brown wood engravings. 318 pages. Spine is grubby and the title block is scuffed. Boards a little grubby. Spine very slightly cocked. Text block lightly browned. Contents clean. Contained in publisher's slipcase which is worn and split at corners, scuffed on ends.

Green pictorial dustwrapper is browned, edge-rubbed with a few small closed tears and chips, small amount of loss to base of spine.

Blue cloth, gilt title to spine. Grey and dark pink decorated endpapers. 255 numbered pages. B/w illustrations. Minimal rubbing to spine and corners. Some foxing to textblock and top edge of textblock a little dusty. Dustwrapper is foxed on verso, is slightly edge chipped with minimal loss and has a large tear to rear panel. There is a message from the publisher on the colophon page stating "the first impression of this edition of Cranford was published in 1940, and most of it was destroyed by enemy action".
