A practical introduction to the technique of the woodcut. The author is a wood engraver and is well qualified to eplain the technique of the craft and to illustrate the technique. Brown cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w wood engravings. xv and 79 pages including index. Boards clean. Text block foxed. Endpapers browned. Some foxing throughout. Green pictorial dustwrapper is browned, edge-rubbed with a few small closed tears and chips, small amount of loss to base of spine.

This book celebrates Thomas Chippendale's, The Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director: A pattern book of household furnishings published in 1754. Chippendale's folio would become the most important and significant publication of its time, influencing furniture design and style up to this day. Large format. Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine. Colour & b/w illustrations. 192 pages including index. ISBN: 0976212404. White mark to lower front board imprinted from the verso of the dustwrapper. Dustwrapper has been glued to the pastedowns via the flaps (will not be removed). A few minor marks to front endpaper. Some damp crinkling to contents but no staining, clean. A few minor marks to rear panel of dustwrapper and light fading to front edge of spine.
