Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam the Astronomer Poet of Persia, Translated into English Verse by Edward Fitzgerald with an introduction by Byatt, full page colour illustrations throughout by Puttapipat, Top edge gilt. Blue Nigerian Goatskin spine with gilt title, purple vendome cloth sides. Gilt endpapers. Originally published in 1859. 69 pages. Some light spotting to front cover. Contents are fine. Slipcase is lightly scuffed to one side and has a tiny nick to top edge of front panel.

A charming autobiography of Shepard's childhood. Green cloth, gilt titles. Top edge red. B/w text illustrations throughout. 190 pages. 8.5" x 6.5". Spine and corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Endpapers partly browned. Evidence of erased pencil marks to front free-endpaper. Dustwrapper is edge worn with slight loss to spine and corners and a little grubby to rear panel.

First trade edition. Dark red-brown simulated leather cloth, stamped in gilt on both front and back covers with differing cupid designs. Gilt lettering and 4 gilt cupid designs on spine. White endpapers. 30 magnificent colour plates, mounted on vellum-like paper with black descriptive letterpress beneath and all framed with elaborate border design in black. Spine and corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Small nick to lower edge of rear cover. Heavy foxing to endpapers, prelims, last (blank) page and textblock. A few hinges are cracked but binding is still tight. A few tissue-guards are slightly torn or creased. A lovely copy which would make a wonderful gift.
