A Humorous Tale Written Principally by a Lady of Ninety. Brown cloth, gilt vignette & title to front. 22 woodcuts. With new illustrations by Greenaway. 3rd issue of first edition. Spine and corners bumped and worn. Covers scuffed and marked. Front joint is cracked, hinges pulled showing stitching beneath but binding still tight. This is a well loved edition and the pages are quite grubby in places.

Beige cloth spine, grey marble effect boards. 61 pages. Board edges rubbed. Three flower stickers/decoupage to lower half of front pastedown. Text block and endpapers browned. Small burn mark to top margin of page 13-17 with minor loss. One or two closed tears to page edges (no loss), a few grubby marks to contents. All plates present, some have a lower corner crease.

Published for Boots The Chemist. Large format. Red cloth covers, gilt titles. 16 colour tipped-in plates. Many b/w illustrations. 319 pages. 10 x 7.5". Light rubbing to corners. Gift insription in ink to front pastedown. Text block browned. A few grubby marks to contents. Plates are fine. Some b/w illustrations coloured in with colouring pencils. A few pages have a tiny piece of the lower corner missing. Dustwrapper is chipped at corners, a large amount of loss to base of spine (3") and thus spine of book is lightly faded where the dustwrapper is missing, also a little creased.

Some foxing and fingermarks to contents. Endpapers are lightly browned and foxed.

Gilt titles and vignettes to front cover and spine. 30 magnificent tipped-in colour plates which display the Germanic inspiration evident in Rip and Midsummer Night's Dream and continuing through Undine and the Wagner books. Orange and cream pictorial endpapers. Top edge gilt. 182 pages. Spine and corners bumped and slightly rubbed. Light browning to endpapers. One plate has a light corner crease, all others are present and in fine condition. Some light foxing to contents and textblock. Title list to prelims list mostly titles published before 1911 but also lists The Ring of the Niblung (published in 1939).
